So what is the deal with all of the freight broker training websites?

As I was scanning the web while doing research for our company website I came across hundreds of websites advertising Freight Broker Training. What is the deal? Are there that many people looking to become freight brokers? Or do they see only see easy $ signs??
My advice to them is do your homework. If you don't know someone in the transportation industry who can give you guidance or freight, or if you don't already have some experience in the transportation industry, you might be jumping off a cliff and not know where you are going to land.

I can tell you from experience-you will have to pay your dues and work hard to be successful. Do not believe that it is a get rich quick scheme where freight is abundant, trucks are plentiful, everyone is honest and we all live happily ever after.

The current state of the industry: Freight is scarce. Rates are being slashed by trucking companies needing freight and by brokers trying to compete in the industry. Fuel prices are rising, which will probably lead to some trucking companies going out of business. On the flip side, trucks can be found relatively easy, so if you are starting a new broker business, trucking companies will probably not be as picky about your credit worthiness. In plain English-it will be easy to find trucks and hard to get freight. And this; this is what all of the greenhorn grasshopper pilgrim brokers will learn very quickly. The freight broker business is all about supply, demand, honesty, integrity, communication, relationships and people. So come on in....the water's fine.

Congrats on your new blog.

I've been working with Jeff Roach of Brooke Transportation Training Solutions for 8 years. I'd suggest looking at their website and reading through the testimonials of real people, real graduates of the school. They are the real deal. Jeff teaches with integrity and is thrilled by success stories. It breaks his heart when graduates throw in the towel.

Yes, the water may be fine ... but, as you so wisely suggest ... "do your homework".

It really boils down knowing how to research, start, operate and market a business successfully. It doesn't matter what type of business - they all require smart marketing and sound business fundamentals.

Why is it that some plumbers, or flower stores, or restaurants, or printers or whatever are going broke while others are prospering beyond their wildest dreams?

It's because those that fail don't know their business skills including market research and effective marketing.

The more information a person can gather on their own, the more informed they will be.

The more willing Freight Broker Training websites are to dish out FREE, honest and realistic information BEFORE collecting one single dollar, the more successful these trainers will be.

Atex Freight Broker Training along with their Freight Brokering Blog does just that.

I'm looking forward to viewing your blog often.

OMG...are you people serious...you have training schools. And charge these people for what???

Anybody with an ounce of common sense knows that all the training and schools in the world arent going to get the clients you need to get a job as a broker. Do any of you guys bother to employ them or just take their money and say you trained them. Nauseating!!!

I have a training program and the list for people wanting to join my program is longer than your sleeve in 8font, why because I give them jobs, help them get a client base, and they stay with me until they get that client base. They leave me with a client base, references, experience, a knowledge base a way, a clear path and money in thier pockets because they get paid as they work with me. You people out there claiming to want to help these people its a bunch of trash the only thing they get from you is disillusioned and empty pockets. Take it elsewhere...like I said nauseating.
